"I am still in awe of your volunteer ratio; 8000 runners with 1700 volunteers, this is unheard of - it was so perfect"
Saturday, February 5, 2011 RunVermont Announces Call to Artists: 2011 KeyBank Vermont City Marathon Poster Design Competition
What image would you use to illustrate the KeyBank Vermont City Marathon and Relay? RunVermont invites professional and amateur artists, designers and photographers to put their creative talents to use for the first KeyBank Vermont City Marathon Poster Design Competition. The winning design will become the official 2011 race poster and KeyBank will make a $1000 donation in the chosen artist’s name to the Vermont non-profit of his or her choice. Since 1998, RunVermont has commissioned one artist per year to create a poster for the KeyBank Vermont City Marathon. The poster is displayed and sold at the Sport and Fitness EXPO on the Friday and Saturday preceding the Marathon, and at the race itself. Previous artists include Woody Jackson, Katharine Monstream, Harry Bliss and Sabra Field. “This year we decided to break from the tradition of seeking out an artist and instead we’re excited to invite the community to show us how they feel about the Marathon,” said RunVermont’s executive director Peter Delaney.” “We hope the competition will offer diverse and unique perspectives of Vermont’s signature sporting event.” Submissions are accepted through March 10, 2011. The winning poster will be exhibited and sold at the Sport and Fitness EXPO, May 27 & 28, 2011 and at the KeyBank Vermont City Marathon on May 29, 2011. Submission guidelines are available here. RunVermont is a not-for-profit business focused on the promotion of a healthy lifestyle. The organization offers competitive and educational programs for adults and children including the KeyBank Vermont City Marathon and Relay, the MVP Health Care YAM Scram, FirstRun, Ready, Set, Run! and the Half Unplugged.
