Thursday, May 19, 2011 2011 Course Update: Pending Mother Nature's cooperation, only small detours anticipated
As reported here, recent flooding in the Burlington area impacted parts of the KeyBank Vermont City Marathon course. Run Vermont is working diligently with Burlington city officials, the Burlington Parks and Rec and the Department of Public Works to make the necessary repairs to the Marathon course in hopes that we will be able to run the course as originally planned, aside from one small detour at Perkins Pier where runners will pass through the Vermont Railway lot. Our ability to run the course as planned depends somewhat on Mother Nature, however, there are contingency plans in place that address all areas of potential concern. A current course map showing the anticipated detour will be posted on RunVermont's blog, The RunDown, on Friday, May 20. If you would like to assist with the clean-up effort, please join Burlington Parks and Rec and several RunVermont teams members this Saturday, May 21 from 10am-2pm at the Information Booth located at the bottom of Pearl Street. Wear a KBVCM t-shirt and sneakers and bring work gloves!
