KeyBank Vermont City Marathon… Ready to be Unleashed!
In just 3 short months the 22nd edition of the KeyBank Vermont City Marathon will be front and center on Battery Street. And it looks like the field will be full! The KBVCM relay lotteries were recently conducted with record numbers of applicants. We have limited the field to 700 teams for both the 2 person and 3-5 person relays. Unfortunately, this means that we had to disappoint more applicants than ever before, but all hope is not lost… the relay transfer board is accessible here and is the best way to get a team.
Marathon registration is also very strong this year, currently about 40% ahead of last year at the same time. Lots of folks call or e-mail wanting to know when we think registration will close. Our simple answer is “we don’t know.” With the registration pattern being very different from the last few years it’s difficult to predict. What we do know is this: marathon participation continues to grow across the country; Boston closed their registration in record time (and with a record number of qualifiers) and we will limit the marathon field to 3600 here in Burlington. So our recommendation, if you’re thinking about running with us this year, is register now. As of March 1st we will have approximately 1000 slots still available.

Don’t forget that as you continue to train for the race that it’s time for us to assemble the hundreds of volunteers that make the event possible. Tell your family and friends to give us a call and learn about how they can “Unleash their volunteer!”
